Apostille for Moving Abroad

Moving abroad almost always involves a stack of Swedish documents that need to be apostilled before they will be accepted by foreign authorities, employers, schools, banks and landlords. Typical examples include birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, police clearances, diplomas and transcripts. The apostille certifies that the document is authentic, allowing the destination country to recognise it without further verification. For Hague Convention countries the apostille is enough; for others, embassy legalisation is required. Most documents must first be notarised as certified copies by a Swedish Notary Public before the apostille is added.
